Post Op Care

After your procedure you are welcome to relax in our recovery lounge, where you will be monitored and looked after until you are ready to return home. Upon departure you will be supplied with discharge instructions for your post operative care at home. You will also be given an afterhour’s contact number for your surgeon, should there be any concerns outside of normal office hours.

We realise that everybody has different post operative needs and our practice nurse will be in contact with you during your recovery. Our nurse will contact you 4-5 days following the surgery and will tailor a post operative plan suitable to your needs. We call 4-5 days after your procedure to allow time for initial healing to take place and to determine whether there are any concerns outside of the normal recovery phase that need to be addressed. At this time we will also organise your post operative review. A small percentage of patients may not even require a follow-up appointment. We strive to follow this post operative time closely to provide you with an uncomplicated recovery.

If any complications or problems arise before your post operative phone call, please contact our office on (07) 3244 2442 during business hours, or on our afterhours emergency contact number supplied at your appointment.

It is important that you contact us with any concerns and not your local hospital, General Practitioner or Dentist as they will not be aware of the details of your procedure, your wounds and its closure, and the treatment required.
